The infiltration of Labour The IFE’s fundamentalist beliefs would not matter that much if it had no access to political power. But the particular skill of the organisation, and its allies, is to use secular politicians of many parties and the democratic process for its own, very different ends. At the last election, when George Galloway won the Bethnal Green and Bow seat for his new Respect party, it was partly – as he said – a verdict on Muslims’ anger with the war in Iraq.
